Our story

Started to bridge the gap of education.

Selekane Education Foundation exists because education access in rural and townships doesn't fail at one point — it fails at many small points, from school fees to Wi-Fi to who a learner has ever met that finished university.

Where we started

A community connection, formalised

The Foundation grew out of relationships already present with schools and families who needed more than goodwill to change outcomes for their learners. Selekane Education Foundation was formed to turn that into a structured, accountable programme.

We work directly with schools and community leadership, rather than at a distance, so support goes where it's actually needed — not just where it's easiest to measure.

What "Selekane" commits to

  • Full transparency with donors and corporate CSI partners on where funds go
  • Working through, not around, Traditional Councils and school leadership
  • Supporting learners for the full journey — not a single term or grant

Governance

The Foundation operates with a defined organisational profile and concept note used with corporate CSI funders, Traditional Councils, and government stakeholders, setting out its structure, focus areas and accountability commitments.

Who we work with

Partners, not just donors

Corporate CSI teams, government departments and individual donors all play a role — some fund programmes directly, others open doors to the schools and families who need them.
